Judah Tribe showcases new songs to record-breaking crowd

More than 6,000 music fans flocked to the Brooklyn Museum on Saturday to take in the up and coming New Jersey reggae outfit Judah Tribe. It was one of the largest crowds ever for the museum’s monthly cultural event, Target First Saturdays, museum officials said.

The band features Les Paultre, the Haiti-born almost-father-in-law of Sean Bell, who was killed by police gun fire in November 2006 on the morning of the day he was supposed to marry Paultre’s daughter Nicole. In a controversial decision, a New York judge earlier this year found the officers who shot Bell not guilty of any crime.

One of the centerpieces of Judah Tribe’s playlist is ‘Judgement,’ a protest song against Bell’s killing and the court’s subsequent decision to free the officers.

‘Judgement’ will be the first single off the band’s upcoming LP, ‘New Day Dawnin.’

'It was one of the best shows I’ve seen,' said one fan at the museum concert.

Judah Tribe describes their music as 'reminiscent of the golden age of reggae music' and compares their sound to Steel Pulse, Peter Tosh and Bob Marley.
