    Giant Step sent us a copy of Easy Star All-Stars latest album, Easy Star's Lonely Hearts Dub Band. This album is their 3rd release and the packaging kicks things off right with a beautiful trifold of saturated colors that reenvisions the Beatles' classic imagery with some modern rasta colors and tones.

    We'll publish a full album review tomorrow. Easy Star's Lonely Hearts Dub Band will be released on April 14th and includes performances by Luciano, Matisyahu, U Roy, Sugar Minott, and more. Read prerelease information about the album here.

    Dubconscious, my brother’s reggae band, is touring through NYC and playing at Sullivan Hall on Wednesday October 1st. If you’re interested, please join us and meet my cooler, balder, far-mellower brother. They're building a following around their socially-conscious reggae/jam band style and have played shows and smoked bowls with The Wailers, Burning Spear, Easy Star AllStars, Mad Professor, etc.

    Glide Magazine writer Jamie Lee describes the band's beginnings: "In 2003, Dubconscious released its debut offering, Word of Life, which received ample response and exposed the rootsy foundation from which the band's live forays grow. Two years later, the group followed up with The American Dream, a sprawling, 21-song collection bolstered by intoxicating dub, socially conscious lyrics, and a feel-good vibe that has made the band a hit on the club scene across the southeast."

    Valley Planet writer Jennifer Daniel encourages reggae fans to "turn it off - your television that is - and tune in to Dubconscious, the Athens, Ga.-based reggae sextet. Rouse the Rasta within and heighten your social senses while celebrating." She goes on to explain that "progressive reggae in the Lee 'Scratch' Perry category, combined with the social drive of Burning Spear, set this young reggae ensemble apart from their contemporaries."

    Easy Star Records recently announced the release of a collector's edition of Easy Star All-Stars ' Radiodread album. The collector's edition is minted on 2 colored vinyl discs (one gold, one green) with with 2 new, previously-unreleased dub tracks ("Karma Police" and "Lucky") by Mad Professor and Joe Ariwa .

    They have also recently announced work on a digital EP with 5 live tracks of original material, along with a new dub of Radiohead's Climbing Up the Walls. The album's release is scheduled for release on March 2008. Easy Star Records reports that "while everyone is waiting to find out what will be the next classic album to get the Easy Star cover treatment, we are very happy to announce the release of UNTIL THAT DAY, an EP of original Easy Star All-Star songs."

    Easy Star All-Stars are kicking off a February tour with Spearhead , hitting a few Colorado locations. Tour dates include:

    Radiodread was initially released in 2006 as a tribute to Radiohead's 3rd album OK Computer. Radiodread came shortly after their first hit, Dub Side of the Moon, a dub and reggae adaption of Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon.
